According to one of our guests, our club is made up of a bunch liars. Do we agree? Darn right, we do. We’re a bunch of darn good liars.
Stuart, as our most incredible Toastmaster — thank you, Stuart – kicked off the meeting with a tale about women’s nude water polo. Hmph. That’s about all I’m going to say about that. Moving on to the speeches…
Ania, Jason, and Keith dazzled us today during the Tall Tales Contest. Ania opened with her tale of the Russian Mafia’s wig conspiracy and the story behind her gorgeous locks. We regret any trauma you may have suffered as a child, Ania, but we’re thrilled you lived to tell the tale. Jason followed with a snipe hunting tale that, according to him, inspired certain lyrics from the Beatles. If ever you need a good laugh, ask Jason to deliver a straight-faced “woo da woo.” Keith closed the contest with a tale of Corky, his ugly bionic crime fighting puppy and something about Jessica Simpson and a bikini. Odd, yes, but it came together beautifully and he walked away with the first place prize.
Congrats, Keith. We know you will represent our club well in future contests.
We learned in the post contest interviews that Ania has a tendency to mix fact and fiction when necessary and that Jason and Keith are rather easy to dupe. Sounds like we could use Ania’s craftiness to have some fun with the boys. Ladies, let’s get our heads together.
Finally, Stuart kept things interesting with some Table Topics. Maureen made clear that she is happy to eat and nap, but has no interest in purging ever. Patrick relayed his embarrassment at diving into a pool to impress his nieces, only to hit the bottom with his head. (That information explains a thing or two, no?) Finally, Maria, our guest, educated us on the thrill of skydiving…with a loose harness. Yikes.
All in all, we had a great time. Thanks again to our contestants and all our role players. And thank you guys also for being so sweet to my mom and sister. Both commented on what a nice bunch of people we have in our club. I have to say that I agree.
Next week we leave the land of contests and return to our regularly scheduled programming. See you guys then.
