Stuart as Toastmaster kicked off May Day though we were still in April.  Hmph.  The rest of the meeting made much more sense to us.

Charles delivered his ice breaker Quentin Tarantino style.  We learned lots.  Most importantly, we learned that Charles believes he can generate wealth, that he can control his thoughts, and that he will not make the mistake of giving up again.  Neil, an old time member who (thankfully) has been able to join us more often than not lately, reported on a leadership program.  He took the opportunity to practice a presentation that he would actually make for work, which is an excellent use of Toastmasters.  Finally, Patrick read Barbara Jordan’s Statement on the Articles of Impeachment.  Nice variety this meeting, huh?

Due to time, we had only two table topics.  Taline expressed her surprise at the pronunciation of Maya Angelou’s last name.  John told of his loss of a hand puppet of a bear.

With the help of Amy, Susana, Brendan and Leeanne, we wrapped up the meeting with evaluations.  Focus on relaxation before any speech.  If you’re using Powerpoint and holding a clicker in one hand, be aware of what the other hand is doing.   If you’re doing a reading, consider setting up the piece to explain to the audience why the speech spoke to you.
