Recognition

Even though Capital City is in Division J, we were well represented last night at the Division K contest.

As contest chair, Patrick opened us up with a room sing along to “You Are My Sunshine.” With about 50 people present, it was quite a rendition.

Keith was the Toastmaster and had us nearly falling out of our seats laughing. Him and Patrick kept a nice lover’s spat going.

Lora was both the Mr and Madame chief judge and recruited Wendy, Drew, Jason, and Jenny to help judge while Amy counted ballots.

We got lots of complements about the entertainment and great energy in the room. I bet most people didn’t know it was mostly Capital City’s doing. Sneaky, sneaky!

Way to represent!

Louis

It was a proud day for Capital City Toastmasters! It was a clean sweep for our club’s contestants at the Area J-61 contest Saturday, September 20.

Keith Smith took the first place trophy with his no-holds-barred, pull-every-rabbit-out-of-the-hat, gratuitous-sex-and-violence-laced Tall Tale, and Rey Deveau won the Evaluation contest with her supportive and insightful presentation. Congratulations Keith and Rey!

Lora Schneider did a bang-up job organizing the contest (along with Rich Bassemir) and Louis was the chief judge. But the two supporting role players who really made everything happen were…the timers: Amy and Jason.

Let’s support our gifted and talented winners at the Division J Contest Saturday morning, October 25. More details to come!

John Schmidt received his Advanced Communicator Gold award yesterday. Congratulations, John.

Leeanne Pacatte, our club Treasurer, received her Old Competent Leader Award today! That’s the equivalent of the Advanced Leader Bronze. Congratulations, Leeanne.

John Schmidt received his Advanced Communicator Silver today! Congratulations, John.

Louis Burns, our Vice President Education, received his Advanced Communicator Gold and Distinguished Toastmaster awards.

Raj Bhattarai was recognized by Toastmasters International with a 20 year membership pin.
