Fellow Capital City Friends:

This will be a brief recap.  Forgive the brevity…unless you like brevity, in which case you ought to tell us to put a cork in it much of the time.

With Keith as Toastmaster, we had a great meeting.  We had a few friends back with us who had been absent for a while.  It was great to see Bill, Brendan, Stephen and Bert.

Marsha delivered the invocation.  We LOVE hearing from her and look forward to hearing more from her in the future.

Susana made her first appearance as Grammarian.  If she has any qualms about appearing before a roomful of people, we couldn’t tell.  Thank you, Susana, for stepping into a role so quickly.

Wendy, our Table Topics Master, called upon those we’d been missing.  Brendan talked Peanuts.  Bill talked sailing.  Stephen relayed his experience of dejection at graduation.  All did a fantastic job.

As for speeches, Taline aired her baggage.  Carlos told us about his first time…to dunk.  Rey read us a story about where rainbows come from.  That we had three speeches so different from one another only confirms that there is nothing “normal” about Toastmasters, or at least our club.

Jason, Stuart, and Louis evaluated.  Congrats to Jason for a fine first-ever evaluation!

Amy generally evaluated but didn’t have time to generally evaluate during the meeting, so here are a few pearls from her.  In short, she praised the theme and Keith’s execution of it.  She also raved about Stephen’s wonderful Table Topic where he demonstrated how pain, with time, turns into comedy.   She also suggested that speakers not set up their own props but make arrangements with the Sergeant at Arms or someone else to handle props.  All very good insights from Amy.  Thanks, Amy.

Patrick timed…and had a lot to say as the Timer though one doesn’t often think of the Timer as a “speaking” role.

We wrapped up the meeting by voting in Brian and inducting Marsha and Susana.  Welcome!  Welcome!  We’re lucky to have you guys.

Best Table Topic – Brendan
Best Speaker – Taline
Best Evaluator – Jason
Most Enthusiastic – Rey
Best Use Of Humor – Carlos
